No Wild Tchoupitoulas? Criminal, I say. Criminal ;-)
I'm glad you still come back occasionally - I do too. I found your blog only days after the storm and regularly followed it's, and yours and your family's, progress and recovery regularly for the first year or so.
"When the Levee Breaks" still hangs prominently on my wall.
thank you for sharing.
Hi! I really love ur blog and pics! My family is from NO(most still there), and I know we all stood in front of the tv during Katrina in tears. My dad grew up in Baton Rouge and then moved to NO, but my mom was raised there--She and I went back this summer to see what was still there of her childhood. Each landmark was overwhelming to visit. Her house was still there(yay!) and her schools she went to--the biggest thing gone were the restaurants on the lake front of Lake Ponchartrain where she worked after high school.
I just love the city-It's got character-which is RARE in America!
When we went, my grandpa showed us around his childhood as well--it was amazing! His father had a stall at the French Market and sold groceries.
I'm a writer, and I'm currently sending out queries to agents with my new novel based in NO. When I went there this summer, I took lots of photos of the locations my scenes were based in- Let me know if you'd like to see some. I have a couple on my new blog and I wrote a poem about our trip as well that u can read at http://sugarspundreams.blogspot.com/
Anywho- thanks for the great NO blog! great stuff!!
